Easy Summer Parties: Grill Your Way To Social Circle Success

With summer upon us, you have one of the best ways to set up a easy get-together: The Great American Cookout. What else could be better? You have the sun, food, maybe a pool, friends and tunes.

So you meet a few girls one night out on the town or online and there is that ever-looming question, “What do I do with these numbers?” You don’t want to have that boring, go-nowhere phone call that leads to you asking her out on the awkward, standard, boring, pressure-filled date!

The cookout lends itself to an easy way to hang out with out all that pressure. You simply let her know that you have some friends stopping over for a cookout and it is going to be a lot of fun she should do herself a favor and stop by.

First, make sure you get the yard cleaned up. There is nothing worse than going to a cookout and having to constantly look where you step for dog crap and weeds up to your knees with god knows what pests running around. Cut the grass and trim those hedges. You wouldn’t want your guests coming over to a filthy house–why would your yard be any exception?

This is a perfect opportunity for you to exercise those leadership skills. Don’t make it too hard on yourself and try to make this the party of the century, since I already hold that record multiple times over, anyway :-) . Keep it laid back and make it a small get together in the afternoon for food and drinks. All you have to provide is the space, some beers and drinks, a grill, ice, some simple munchies like chips and salsa and some hot dogs. If you don’t have a grill get yourself a George Foreman Grill–its fun and works fine in a pinch.

Let everyone know this is a BYOB type of event. Have a few games around to play such as a Frisbee, football or Bad Minton.

Set up the time to start and assign people roles to fill during the event such as grill man, dj, etc while you host the event and introduce everyone. Don’t be a dictator while giving out roles, just politely ask your friends to help out in certain areas.

Keep the tunes going and keep everyone engaged. If someone seems like they’re not having a fun time, ask them if there’s anything they need. Stay in a laid back, fun mood and your guests will follow suit. No reason to get bent out of shape because the cd skips.

Be sure that when your guests arrive you treat them all equally, including the girls you had just met. In fact treat them like you have known them forever and introduce them to your friends, who should be telling the girls great things about you and getting them interested in you.

Here you can let her see you in charge of directing a social event on a small scale. Be sure not to ignore your friends when she arrives; give everyone that arrives equal attention. Some of your friends may require more than others. Take some time later in the afternoon or evening to get to know her a bit and share a some of yourself with her to strengthen the connection.

Make the afternoon unique with a special summertime cocktail; get recipes off the Internet. Mojitos and margaritas are easy classics.

Summer is a great time for some real outdoor fun. Keep it simple, keep it fun and the rest will follow. Please do not think these parties have to happen at your house. You can also do these things at a park or beach. All functions have these four great things in common: food, drink, friends, and music.
